Bucks Still Shopping Magloire, either to Portland or Golden State

July 29, 2006

Magloire has been on the block since the day after the Bucks got put out of the Playoffs. Even though he has been on the block so long the Bucks still have not finalized anything. Their have been a lot of interested Teams but they have not been offering anything. The deal would Portland that is rumored would give them 3 players, one being Steve Blake whom they seem to want badly. They are also interested in Troy Murphy, although he has $50 million owed to him for a few more years.

The deal with Portland doesn’t make sense because the Buck have 3 point guards already. The Golden State deal makes more sense and would give them toughness but I wonder what type of minutes Murphy would be playing. I would assume he would start over Charlie V. That would leave someone out either Gadzuric or Joe Smith. Lets hope the Bucks take their time and make the right move.

Why all the Kobe haters Part 2

July 27, 2006

I want to pick up where I left off with some of the reasons people say they dislike Kobe Bryant. A lot of people say he is selfish and greedy. Many people where celebrating his 81 point game while other where saying, ” he only had 2 assists”. His team was down, his teammates where doing nothing and he took over the game. When a player gets hot, go to him. Regarding his assist total,  a player gets an assist when his pass leads directly to a basket, so if he is passing to people like Kwame and Odom and they miss layups, that is not his fault.

People also say that “he doesn’t make his teammates better”. That is a statement that the media had been saying all last season and now regular people are saying it too. The statement is stupid and makes no sense. You cannot make other players better, all you can do is get other players open shots and they have to knock them down. People say Jordan made people better, no, he got others open shots, that’s it.

I have also heard some say that he is holding basketball back from being a team game. Basketball is a team game but it is also entertainment. I know the majority of basketball fans would rather see a 50 point game from Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Melo, etc., then watch the Pistons play the Spurs. Why do you think the 2005 Finals was rated so low? It was boring.

You see what teams and players sellout and you see what teams and players play on TV the most. Telling fans that Billups and the Pistons are coming to town will not lead to any sellouts, further proving my point.

That is all I have to say on the subject if I think of something else down the line there will be a part 3.

Why All The Kobe Haters? Part 1

July 24, 2006

In my opinion Kobe Bryant is the best player in the NBA right now but he is also the most hated player in the NBA. I have visited many discussion forums and brought up the question and I get various responses which seem like bull. People say he is a rapist because he paid the girl off. As far as I know they were the only two people in the room that night so no one else knows what happened. Also he didn’t pay her off, he settled the suit to get back to focusing on his career and to keep his sexual history private.

People also say he is selfish and they bring up the Shaq thing. As far as I know Kobe has been good friends with many teammates like Derek Fisher, Rick Fox, GP, Caron Butler, Brian Shaw, etc. He is also very well respected by his peers. The Shaq situation was all put on him when it should not have been. Kobe puts it all on the line and does everything he can to win. Shaq did not. Shaq never came to training camp in shape and one season he chose to have toe surgery at the beginning of the season rather than during the off season. Who is selfish in these instances? I can understand why Kobe would not want to play with Shaq. It is the same as a person with a regular job working with a lazy person, they HAVE to do everything.

Even though Shaq has all the Finals MVPs, Kobe is the reason they won those titles. Why you ask? Because it was Kobe’s job to win the lakers all those close games the last 5 minutes while Shaq was sitting on the sidelines, and he did it for 3 straight seasons. Yet he does not get credit for it.

I have a lot to say on this subject so I can’t say it all in one post please check back tommorrow.

New Sections

July 23, 2006

At first this blog was going to be mainly focused on the NBA but I plan on adding some new sections. I plan to add a section that will address the things going on in college basketball. I also plan to add a section for people that actually play basketball. I will basically give tips on improving in areas like shooting, jumping ablity, etc., and recommend products that I have tried.

JR Smith traded to the Nuggets

July 17, 2006

JR Smith is moving again, to the Nuggets. He is a player I thought the Bulls would keep and I thought he would contribute but they are moving him to make room for Adrian Griffin. The Nuggets are giving up two draft pick and Howard Eisley.

I have heard people label JR Smith a bust. I disagree. He played well as a rookie. He played the second best of any high school player behind Dwight Howard. Last year he was riding the pine but he still has a career ppg of nearly 10 points and he is only twenty. I look for him and Carmelo to make a good team in Denver.

Impressive Summer League Players

July 17, 2006

Many players have been playing very solid in the summer leagues. Marcus Williams, Adam Morrison, and Tyrus Thomas have been playing very solid in the summer leagues. Morrison and Williams isn’t too much of a surprise, they were two of the most NBA ready players in the draft. I am sure a few GM’s are already wishing they had took Williams. Thomas has been racking up points, blocks, and boards, hopefully he can contribute right away.

Lebron, Wade, and Bosh sign similar deals Melo doesn’t

July 13, 2006

Lebron, Wade, and Bosh signed 4 year deals in which they have the option for the 4th year. The reason behind this is money and age. By doing this the players will be able to sign their next deal at a younger age giving them a better chance of signing another max deal. Also the NBA bargaining agreement will be expiring and the new agreement could lead to more money. Some are saying up $150 million for six years. The only way this play could backfire is it injuries occur and decrease their value. Melo went with the max deal instead of a deal similar to the others. He has an opt out clause after the fourth year. The reason he went with the max deal is because it is guranteed and you never know what will happen in regards to injuries.

Mike James signs with the Timberwolves

July 11, 2006

Mike James, one of the NBA’s top remaining free agents has decided to sign with the Timberwolves for their mid level exception. It will be a good pick up for the wolves if he can match the number he had in Toronto. It is rare to see a 20 ppg scorer go for that price but James is a little old and has only had the one good season.

I watch a lot of basketball and I was not aware that he average 20 per game until the season ended. I saw him play here and Milwaukee and wasn’t impressed but it is good to see him get a long term deal and it good to see Garnett get some help.

Foye Standing Out In Summer League Play

July 11, 2006

The Summer leagues started a week ago and some players are flourishing while others haven’t even showed up. Foye is one player that has been impressive leading many to believe he will be ROY. Other that have player solid include Steve Novak although he need to get stronger before the real season starts. Shannon Brown has also played solid.

2 stars Amare and Artest are playing in the summer league. Amare has played well but I have read he is not as agreesive going to the hole as he was. For a person that had that type of injury he had that is expected.
