KG Trade Done, Celtics Still Have Holes

July 31, 2007

KG is officially a Celtic giving them and instant Eastern Conference powerhouse but they need some serious help, they don’t have a bench at all. Word is Danny Ainge has been given the option to go over the Cap to bring in more guys and their are some quality players left like PJ Brown, Brevin Knight, and Matt Barnes.

On the other hand Minnesota has picked up a solid group of guys that will help contribute and entertain Minnesota fans. They already have Foye and Ricky Davis that will start, Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, and Mark Blount should complete the starting 5. They also have Corey Brewer and Juwan Howard that will contribute.

KG To Boston

July 30, 2007

The KG to Boston deal is heating up and many sources are saying it is nearly done. The projected deal would send KG to Boston for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, and a first round pick. The trade would leave the Celtics with a starting five of Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, KG, and Kedrick Perkins. The bench would be a little thin with Glen Davis, a rookie, Leon Powe, and Tony Allen, and some other scrubs but with KG, Allen, and Pierce in the East they will be in the playoffs.

Smush Parker Signs With The Heat

July 27, 2007

After going after pretty much every top free agent point guard on the market the Miami Heat have settled and signed Smush Parker to a two year deal. Parker played the last two seasons with the LA Lakers. The Miami Heat expect him to backup Jason Williams.

USA Scrimmage Shows Team Still Has Work To Do

July 23, 2007

The USA team played a scrimmage yesterday in Las Vegas. The game was close but in the end Kobe knocked down a jumper over Tayshaun Prince with 6 seconds left in the game to put the blue team up for good. Some of the most impressive players in the game were Carmelo, Lebron, Kobe, Kidd, and to a lot of peoples surprise Durant. Durant went off in the second have with a flurry of jumpers and drives and ended the game with 22 points.

Mike Miller also played a good game by knocking down 5 threes in the game. Michael Redd another person known for his outside shooting hit 4 threes in the game.

The players looked good but it is too early to get excited because their were some flaws. Both teams shot poorly from the free throw and three point line. Shooting well on threes is important because the international teams play a lot of zone defense. It also seemed that the big men mishandled a ton of passed that they need to catch when the games are real.

Overall I think both teams should have played zone the entire game. I know they were trying to entertain and be competitive and a zone would have taken away some of the entertainment from the game because their would have been a lot less driving and cutting. The real games start on August 22nd so the players still have a month to get ready.

USA Basketball Scrimmage Tonight

July 22, 2007

Tonight the USA Basketball squad will play a scrimmage. A lot of people are anxious to see the team this summer because this will be the first time Kobe Bryant will put on that USA jersey. He has had various injuries as well as the Colorado case a few years back that has kept him from playing in the Summer.

A lot of fans are welcoming his addition but many others do not think he is a good fit for the team. I am one that thinks it helps the team a lot. Kobe is not the only solid addition. Michael Redd, one of the best shooters in the NBA will help the team a lot. Jason Kidd and Deron Williams are also with the team, although Deron is not considered a lock to make the final roster.

If you ask me the most important players on this team are Kobe, Carmelo, Redd, Kidd, and Williams. Kobe, Melo, and Redd are consistent mid range scorers with Redd being a very consistent deep threat. Kidd and Williams can get guys the ball in great scoring position.

Rafer To Miami

July 22, 2007

With 5 point guards on their roster the Houston Rockets are looking to move two of them. The Heat have been searching for a PG all summer and are looking at making a move for Rafer Alston. Rafer played one season in Miami during Wade’s rookie season. The names being mention in rumors are Udonis Haslem and Michael Doleac.

It is interesting to heard Haslem mentioned in trade talked because moving him would give them a hole at the PF position so it will be interesting to see how this rumor plays out.

Steve Francis Highlights

Steve Francis - Heard ‘Em Say

Steve Francis Going Back To Houston

July 19, 2007

Steve Francis is returning to the place where he had his best days as an NBA player in Houston. He signed a 2 year $6 million contract with the team. A lot of people are saying he is a cancer and he is washed up. In response to people saying he is a cancer, I say you can’t always believe what you hear, unless you are in the locker room then you should focus on what he does on the court.

To people that says he is washed up, he has had a bad year and a half but he is only 30 years old and he can easily get back on track with the right team and if he stays healthy. This guy had several 20 point games last year and is still a solid player.

With him the Rockets need to move some of their guards and get some frontcourt help. They already have Mike James, Rafer Alston, Luther Head, John Lucas, Aaron Brooks, and now they add Francis.  Until they make some moves in the backcourt you would have to assume that the starting lineup would have Francis taken Rafer’s starting spot or the team may play Rafer at the 1, Francis at the 2, and slide TMac to the 3.

Their is no doubt the Rockets just got a lot better but they still need help upfront.
