Team USA Looking Good
August 24, 2007
Team USA has played two games this Summer and they have looked pretty good in both of them. They are pushing the ball, hitting outside shots, getting to the line, and playing solid defense. The addition of better point guards, defenders, and shooters to the team has made a big difference. The biggest problems I see with the team is the free throw shooting, the lack of post guys that can really make respectable post moves and score, and the fact that they seem to lay back when they get a good lead.
Right now Carmelo Anthony has been the best player which is not surprising since he has the best inside/outside game of any player on the team. He can shake someone down in the post on one play, run the break and handle the ball on another, and spot up for a three pointer on another.
Even thought the USA is ballin they still have a ton of games let and their toughest competition has yet to come.
Bucks Should Have Won A Title With Their Big 3
August 22, 2007
Ray Allen has a new big three in Boston that are aiming for a title, but lets not forget about his old big three in Milwaukee that should have won a title or at least got to the finals.
The Milwaukee Bucks had Sam Cassell, Ray Allen, and Glenn Robinson all dropping 20 plus a game back in the day and that wasn’t even the best thing about them. The best thing about them was that Ray Allen was the only one with a max deal. Glenn Robinson signed a 10 year deal worth $68 million when he entered the league in 1994 and Cassell was stuck in a bad deal that paid him about $5 million a year. With those 3 the team had some role players and defenders to help out. The one thing they never got was inside scoring. Of course over those years they overpaid Tim Thomas and Jason Caffey but to have two unpaid 20ppg scorers and not take advantage is ridiculous.
Teams nowadays with 3 stars are dropping at least $10 million on each player which leaves nothing for role players. The Bucks were in the best position a team could be in but they blew it because they were cheap and could not recruit good offensive post players.
The Celtics have a big three and they are trying to take advantage, even though their big three is making a ton, they have added a shooter and a big guy. They are wooing Reggie Miller, another shooter, and players like Ruben Patterson are interested in joining the team.
Eddie Griffin Dead At 25
August 21, 2007
Former Seton Hall star Houston Rocket, and Minnesota Timberwolve Eddie Griffin was killed last week in a car accident. Reports are saying that he drove around a stop lights and through a barrier at a train intersection and was hit by the moving train. He was burned so badly in the crash that dental records had to be used to ID him.
Many fans are saddened by the incident and just as many are wondering about the circumstances. Some are wondering whether or not he was intoxicated or even if it was a suicide based on his problems with alcohol and mental health. More details about the dead may come out in later weeks.

USA Games Two Days Away
August 20, 2007
For those that have been itching for some quality basketball since summer league get ready for some USA basketball. They will start play on August 22nd. With new guys like KB24, Kidd, and Billups joining the team it would be a big disappointment if these guy did not win every game.

Warriors Dumps Foyle
August 14, 2007
The Golden State Warriors have dumped some dead weight from the team by buying out Adonal Foyle. He has spent his entire 10 year career with the Warriors and has basically sucked the whole time. For some reason they felt he was worth a 6 year $42 million deal which he signed in 2004. Last season he barely played and only average 2.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Word is the Magic are interested in his services. Terms of the buyout were not disclosed.
Reggie Miller Thinking About A Comeback
August 8, 2007
Word is that Reggie Miller has had talks with Celtics management about making a comeback. He retired in 2005 but is looking at comeback in a limited role with the Celtics. Miller is 42 years old and played 18 years in the NBA but never won an NBA championship. With Boston vaulted to a top 3 team in the East it is very possible they could make it to the NBA Finals.
Jermaine ONeal Wants To Go To LA
August 6, 2007
Jermaine Oneal has came out and said he wants to be traded to LA and if not LA to the Nets. The Lakers have been trying to get some things going this summer to please Kobe but they have not done much. If they were to trade Odom and Bynum for Oneal that wouldn’t improve them much. They need to find a way to get JO and keep Odom. Kwame is a good asset because of his expiring contract and Bynum is an asset because he is a young big man but other than that they do not have any other good pieces to add to a trade and match Oneal’s salary.
Making Your Teammates Better
August 5, 2007
Over the last few years this term about making your teammates better has been coming out of NBA commentators mouths and now it is even spreading to fans. Any time I visit a basketball site I hear someone saying this guy or that guy does or doesn’t make their teammates better. When I read that crap I just want to say shut up, you cannot make your teammates better. The only thing one player can do for a teammate is get them better shots.
People talk about how Steve Nash makes everyone on his team better. All of theose guys could shoot, defend, jump, run plays, etc. before Nash got there, the only thing Nash has done for those players is got them the ball in better scoring positions.
To me making your teammates better would imply that all of a sudden you make a player better shooter, better free throw shooter, better three point shooter, better defender, faster, higher jumper, etc. The only people that can make a player better is himself by having heart, confidence and working on their game.
